【摘要】:Refractiveindexisafundamentalphysicalpropertythatcanbeusedinconjunctionwithotherpropertiestocharacterizepurehydrocarbonsandtheirmixtures.Theuseofrefractiveindexincorrelativemethodsforthedeterminationofthegrosscompositionofviscousoilsandwaxesoftenrequiresitsmeasurementatelevatedtemperatures.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementofrefractiveindexes,accuratetotwounitsinthefourthdecimalplace,oftransparentandlight-coloredviscoushydrocarbonliquidsandmeltedsolidsthathaverefractiveindexesintherangebetween1.33and1.60,andattemperaturesfrom80to100x00B0;C.Temperatureslowerthan80x00B0;Ccanbeusedprovidedthatthemeltingpointofthesampleisatleast10x00B0;Cbelowthetesttemperature.1.2Thistestmethodisnotapplicable,withintheaccuracystated,toliquidshavingcolorsdarkerthanASTMColorNo.4,ASTMcolorasdeterminedbyTestMethodD1500,toliquidswhichsmokeorvaporizereadilyatthetesttemperature,ortosolidsmeltingwithin10x00B0;Cofthetesttemperature.Note18212;Theinstrumentcanbesuccessfullyusedforrefractiveindicesabove1.60;butsincecertifiedliquidstandardsforrangesabove1.60arenotyetavailable,theaccuracyofmeasurementundertheseconditionshasnotbeenevaluated.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Warningx2014;MercuryhasbeendesignatedbyEPAandmanystateagenciesasahazardousmaterialthatcancausecentralnervoussystem,kidney,andliverdamage.Mercury,oritsvapor,maybehazardoustohealthandcorrosivetomaterials.Cautionshouldbetakenwhenhandlingmercuryandmercury-containingproducts.SeetheapplicableproductMaterialSafetyDataSheet(MSDS)fordetailsandEPAx2019;swebsite(http://www.epa.gov/mercury/faq.htm)foradditionalinformation.Usersshouldbeawarethatsellingmercuryormercury-containingproducts,orboth,inyourstatemaybeprohibitedbystatelaw.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
