【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedtodeterminetheignitionresistanceandburningcharacteristicsofmaterialsusedinprotectiveclothing,whereflameresistanceisnottheprimaryformofprotectiondesignated.Flameresistanceisadistinctivepropertyofclothingitemsdesignatedforisolatingpartsofthebodyfromanticipatedflamehazards.Itispossiblethatprotectiveclothingdesignatedforisolationfromotherhazard,suchasthoseforchemicalorbiologicalprotection,neitherhaveflameresistancenorisolatethewearerfromflamehazards.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtoevaluatetheeffectsofflameimpingementonprotectiveclothingwhereflameresistanceisnottheprimaryobjectiveofprotection.Whenflameresistanceistheprimaryprotectionofferedbytheprotectiveclothing,alternativetestmethodscanbeused.AtestmethodthatisusefulforevaluatingflameresistanceoftextilesisTestMethodD6413.IndexD4723containsdescriptionsandguidanceonotherflammabilitytestmethodsfortextiles.Thistestmethodisusefultodeterminetheignitionresistanceandburningcharacteristicsofmaterialsusedinprotectiveclothingnotdesignatedforflameresistancewhentheoutermaterialsurfaceisexposedtotheflame.Assuch,itisparticularlysuitedtoprotectiveclothingmaterialswhicharecomposedofdifferentlayerssuchascoatedfabrics,laminates,ormultilayerclothingsystems.Correlationofdatafromthistestmethodwiththeignitionresistanceandburningcharacteristicsofprotectiveclothing(notdesignatedforflameresistance)underactualuseconditionsisnotimplied.1.1Thistestmethodestablishesasmall-scalelaboratoryscreeningprocedureforcomparingtheignitionresistanceandburningcharacteristicsofmaterialsusedinprotectiveclothingwhereflameresistanceisnottheprimaryformofprotectionprovidedbytheclothing.1.1.1Itismoreappropriatetoevaluatematerialsusedinapplicationswhereflameresistanceistheprimaryformofprotectionprovidedbytheclothingbyotherflammabilitytestmethods.Thistestmethodshallnotbeusedtoevaluatematerialswhereflameresistanceistheprimaryformofprotectionofferedbytheprotectiveclothing.1.1.2Thistestmethodprovidesameansforcomparingeaseofignitionandburningbehaviorofmaterialswhichincludeplasticorelastomericfilms,coatedfabrics,flexiblelaminates,multilayer-materialsystems,orotherprotectiveclothingmaterialsthatarenotdesignatedforofferingflameresistanceastheirprimaryformofprotection.1.2Thistestmethodmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsorotherunitsshallberegardedseparately.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependently,withoutcombiningvalues.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
